Founded by Mennonites, Milton Creamery sources all its milk from small, local dairy farms and aims to assist others in the agriculture world and beyond. Fifteen years after its founding, the creamery only sources from herds managed and milked by the immediate family and that have no more than 120 animals. The farmers that provide milk to Milton Creamery do not give their cows artificial growth hormones, like rBGH and rBST. Over the years, they have won numerous blue ribbons for their authentic cheddar style cheeses all made with milk from small, local, family-owned farms.
Prairie Breeze is Milton Creamery’s twist on a well-aged white cheddar style cheese, aged for a minimum of 9 months. Sweeter than your typical cheddar with lots of flavor, this crumbly yet creamy cheese has a slight crunch from the calcium crystals developed during the aging process. Its nutty tones and fresh pineapple scent, along with its prime melting quality, makes Prairie Breeze the creamery’s most beloved and decorated cheese. Pair with prosciutto and Chardonnay, bold, oaky cabernets, or incorporate Prairie Breeze into a decadent mac and cheese.
